| The first state dartball tournament was held in 1939. See the photo on the right. The records from the early years of the state dartball tournaments were not always passed along. If you have any information about any of the missing information, please contact us. Over the years, the number of teams entering the state tournament has continued to rise. 1986 was the first year teams were divided into a 2 division format. Since then, the top 16 teams, by team batting average, have been put in the "A" division. The rest of the teams go into the "B" division. In 2000 it was decided that any team that won Class B the previous year must go into Class A the next year. In 2009, the tournament was held in the Wisconsin Dells area for the first time ever, and drew 85 teams from around the country! They had 16 teams in A, 58 teams in B, and 11 women's teams. This was the largest two day Dartball tournament ever held. |

It was always held the first weekend in March, and many teams used it to prepare for the state tournament. The tournament wasn't always run the best, but attracted all the best teams. The last year the tournament was run was in 2004. It was won by Hickory Inn. Here is the team photo: Hickory Inn |
| In 2003, Minnesota invited a Wisconsin team to their state tournament. They shoot at a different board than Wisconsin, and only shoot from 15' away. The Hickory Inn team from South Milwaukee traveled to the tournament. They adjusted to the shorter distance rather quickly. In one game they scored 116 runs! They easily won the tournament, and were never invited back. Here is the team photo with the 1st place trophy: Hickory Inn |
